Rate-equation approach for multi-level quantum systems

نویسندگان

چکیده

Strong driving of quantum systems opens opportunities for both controlling and characterizing their states. For theoretical studying these properties we use the rate-equation formalism. The advantage such approach is its relative simplicity. We used formalism description a two-level system (TLS) with further expanding it on case multi-level system. Obtained results have good agreement experiments. presented can also be considered as one more way to explore underlying physical processes instance Landau-Zener-Stuckelberg-Majorana transitions interference.

The one-level functional equation of multi-rate loss systems

Motivated by the discrete multirate Kaufmann-Roberts recurrence relations we derive a functional equation (FE), which covers nonintegral states. This FE implies a unique effective step parameter d, which defines an equivalent one-level recurrence depth, or bitrate, at each state under progress. This state-dependent depth results from the equality requirement of the multirate and the one-level m...

Equivalence Checking in Multi-level Quantum Systems

Motivated by its superiority compared to conventional solutions in many applications, quantum computation has intensely been investigated from a theoretical, physical, and design perspective. While these investigations mainly focused on two-level quantum systems, recently also advantages and benefits of higher-level quantum systems became evident. Though this led to several approaches for the r...

Quantum master-equation approach to quantum transport through mesoscopic systems

For quantum transport through mesoscopic systems, a quantum master-equation approach is developed in terms of compact expressions for the transport current and the reduced density matrix of the system. The present work is an extension of Gurvitz’s approach for quantum transport and quantum measurement, namely, to finite temperature and arbitrary bias voltage. Our derivation starts from a second...

Rate equations for quantum transport in multi-dot systems

Starting with the many-body Schrödinger equation we derive new rate equations for resonant transport in quantum dots linked by ballistic channels with high density of states. The charging and the Pauli exclusion principle effects were taken into account. It is shown that the current in such a system displays quantum coherence effects, even if the dots are away one from another. A comparative an...

Dissipative Quantum Tunneling : Quantum Langevin Equation Approach

The quantum Langevin equation is used as the basis for a discussion of dissipative quantum tunneling. A general analysis, including strong coupling and non-markovian (memory) effects, is given for the case oftunneling through a parabolic barrier at zero temperature in the presenceof linear passive dissipation. It is shown that dissipation always decreases the tunneling rate below the barrier an...
